I think a lot about the fact that we live so much of our lives on our phones.
That in order to reach you, I need to be inside your phone, and to put my art inside your phone. The problem with this is, that a lot of my art is big – some of it is downright massive.
In fact, some of my pieces are so big that even I’ve never seen them full size. Several years ago, I entered an art show for digital artists, and rather than print my art I bought a 55” television to act as a canvas, and even that wasn’t big enough.
And while my art is designed to be seen on screens, I know that a lot of people don’t have dedicated digital art displays hanging on their walls (yet). So to that end, I feel like I should encourage you to buy some prints … and honestly, the larger, the better.
Not because I get to make more money. Obviously that part’s nice, and you get to feel good about supporting an artist, and “the arts” in general. But because it genuinely looks better that way.
When I made my piece “Resurfacing,” it clocked in at a whopping 8192 × 4320 pixels. In order to market that on Instagram, and really get people to see the details of it, I had to cut out slices that were 1080 × 1080 – less than 3.3% of the actual piece of art.
So if you like my art, or you think you might like my art but maybe you feel like you haven’t gotten a chance to actually see it, sign up for my newsletter, and every week I’ll send you new opportunities to not just see it, but own it.
