Hi best friends!
I just wanted to show you what I've been working on this week, in addition to making the site better and more usable — as I'm writing this, it hasn't even been uploaded to to database yet, but my newest piece is titled "The Journey of a Thousand Miles"

Steeped in disappearing light from the deserts of Peru to a football stadium in Texas, this piece was an exploration of the contrast between stillness & motion, crowd dynamics & solitude, and the ways that we create harmony in the unknown.
It started with two photos of the setting sun over sand dunes in Ica, Peru, which I overlaid with several intentionally blurry photos I took of the crowd at DKR Stadium in Austin, TX during a game that started during the day, but went long into the evening and eventually the night.

All in all, I took and used more than a dozen of those photos, which I thought captured the dynamicism of the event, and lent themselves well to conveying the idea of motion into a still image. As a treat, I'll share with you one of the earlier versions of the piece, which I really liked, but I didn't think it had quite enough contrast or dichotomy.

As always, thanks for checking this out — especially if you're reading this from the newsletter. If you're not, you can sign up at the bottom of the page, and get previews like this one, discounts on prints, and a lot more.
See you in the next one!
